8th Grade Field Trip - Mohonk Mountain House
We are pleased to inform you that we have received funding to take our 8th grade class on a field trip to Mohonk Mountain in New Paltz, N.Y. where our students will hike, tour the facility, participate in a question and answer session and have lunch at the Mohonk Mountain House.

One way that we provide care for your student is by performing a yearly screening examination for the detection of postural deformity known as scoliosis as mandated by the State of New York.

Grades 3-8 Testing Information from NYS Commissioner of Education
Since I became New York's Commissioner of Education in 2015, I have traveled more than 50,000 miles, crisscrossing the state listening to concerns from teachers and parents about the Grades 3-8 ELA and Math Tests. As a result of hearing these concerns, the State Education Department made significant changes to the tests.

President’s Challenge Scholarship
All 8th grade students and parents are invited to attend an informational meeting regarding the President’s Challenge Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to five 8th grade students who meet the requirements and are selected through the completion of an application, essay, an interview process and selection by the committee. Upon successful graduation from Rondout Valley High School, the students selected will be afforded the opportunity to attend SUNY Ulster, tuition free.
